The mandate of this project was to create a book cover design based on an artist given. Louise Bourgeois was the artist. Louise Bourgeois was a french-american artist known for her huge spider sculptures entitled Maman.
Maman, a stainless steel sculpture created in 1999. It was made of bronze with a marble design depicting a spider. It was amongst the worlds largest sculptures ever created. It measured 30 feet high and 33 feet wide. A spider sac containing 32 marble eggs, and an abdomen made of bronze are some of the distinct features of this sculpture.
The approach was to use a strong and bold photograph of the artist to show her unique character. This photograph, taken by unknown artist, was symmetrically flipped by the artist using half of her initial face.
